Dear friends and fellow citizens,
We urgently call on you to support Frank Marba from the climate-impacted Dinagat Islands in his fight for climate justice. Frank has bravely joined a landmark international court case in France against a big oil company (TotalEnergies) that has significantly contributed to the climate crisis. His community, still recovering from the damages brought by Typhoon Odette two years ago, continues to face hardships from extreme weather events like drought and floods caused by the climate crisis.
Fossil fuel companies—producers of oil, coal, and gas—have long profited from the destruction of our environment. Their emissions have led to climate impacts that cause extreme weather events, devastating our homes, livelihoods, and well-being. The climate crisis is costing countries like the Philippines billions in damages, preventing most of us from having a stable future. This climate injustice must end.
We can still reclaim our future by holding these oil and gas companies accountable and demanding they change their harmful practices. Together, we can create a resilient and sustainable world where renewable energy (like wind and solar) powers our communities, and everyone thrives in a kinder, safer world.
Let us end this climate injustice. We call on governments to make polluters pay, and pursue any and all means necessary to ensure climate justice for vulnerable communities. It is time for these corporations to pay for the losses and damages our people continue to endure.
