End Plastic Pollution

No Single-Use Plastic is Fantastic!
Plastic waste has been cleared in some areas. Yet here we are, still dealing with the after-effects of imported plastic waste. Hazardous chemicals, heavy metals and metalloids remain in our environment as a toxic reminder, left over from the burning and shredding of plastic waste.

While issues of plastic waste in Malaysia persists.
Greenpeace Malaysia found plastic-related substances and chemical contaminants in our environment, through a series of investigations involving water and soil sampling.

Some of which have the possibility of entering our food chain, and are potentially harmful to human health.

High concentrations of heavy metals such as cadmium and lead, were uncovered from samples of material at sites in which plastic wastes burned and shredded.

One of the main sources of plastic waste stems from the overproduction of unnecessary single-use plastic packaging.

Stand with us in calling on the Malaysian and international governments to form a global agreement to:

  1. Enforce stricter policies that monitor and ensure transparency and accountability, starting with further investigations into the plastic waste trade.
  2. Create and implement plans aimed at reducing the production and usage of unnecessary single-use plastic packaging by companies, in phases.

The rise of plastic waste is a GLOBAL problem that cannot be resolved by countries working in silo.

Our fight is far from over!

Let’s turn off the tap and stop unnecessary single-use plastic at its source.

The myth of recycling

Imported plastic waste flooded Malaysia's shores in 2018 and despite efforts to ship it back, its toxic after-effects still remain.
